Bereavement Support Network

The Bereavement Support Network (BSN) is a group of committed, trained volunteers, who share the experience of having coped with bereavement. BSN’s mission is to support English-speaking residents in France who are trying to cope with the experience of losing a loved one. We do this through individual bereavement support, by phone or video, and practical information in English. All our services are free.

We also support those who are terminally ill, their carers and families.

We are a secular organisation, independent of other groups providing similar welfare care. However, we may liaise with other organisations when appropriate or if asked by a client. Although our services are strictly confidential, there are certain limits to confidentiality, as required under law. We also understand how much more difficult it can be dealing with loss in a foreign country, far from the support of family, in a language and with a system that may be unfamiliar to many.

Mindful Meditation

Anna leads weekly guided mindfulness sessions either on Zoom or, once a month, in person at The Grange before our drop-in meetings. These sessions are free to CSG06 clients.

A few words from Anna, our Mindfulness coach:

Mindfulness is a form of attention training that helps bring clarity and perspective to life’s ups or downs by tuning in to the body, thoughts, and emotions.

Wherever you are on your cancer journey, mindfulness helps in managing periods of anxiety, depression, stress, and emotional or physical discomfort, and it enhances wellbeing. Mindful communication helps with clarity during treatment and support. It develops empathy and facilitates understanding of needs and feelings among family and friends.

No previous experience is required. You can practice seated in a chair or lying down. The group is welcoming, warm, respectful, and accepting. We invite patience, compassion, and kindness. There is opportunity for reflection, quiet, pause, slowing down, sharing observations, and asking questions on integrating the practice into your daily life

Christel Gary Art Therapy

Art Therapy classes (Group) with Christel Gary meet on Thursdays, 10.00-11.30 AM, at the Tzanck oncology centre in Mougins. To attend, you must register in advance. Please contact us for details.

Here are a few words from Christel Gary, Art Therapist:

Art Therapy is an invitation to express inner emotions through drawing, painting, or modelling, sometimes with closed eyes. No artistic ability is required. The colours, forms, and themes you choose will help you understand your inner turmoil, which you can then release by talking about it with the therapist.

Art is the soul’s medicine. Through Art Therapy you can free your creativity, co-operate with your own medical treatment, and restore your soul’s vitality. Art Therapy enables you to transform a source of conflict into art, helping you to heal anguish and discover joy and harmony even in the most difficult of circumstances.

This is a group activity: working alongside others is an essential part of Art Therapy. The class aims to awaken your inner hidden creative talents.

Languages: English, French, German.
