Pilates (free)

Pilates is a system of low-impact exercises that promote strength, stability, and flexibility.

Here are a few words from Mel, our Pilates practitioner:

Through muscular effort that stems from the core, Pilates helps build muscle strength and joint mobility. This increases energy, restores a positive mind-body connection, reduces stress through mindful breathing and activity, strengthens the immune system, and creates an overall feeling of well-being. It can be hugely beneficial for people with a cancer diagnosis.

In my classes, you work at the level that is appropriate for you on any given day irrespective of what anyone else is doing. There is only one rule: “listen to your body”!

Pilates can be practised on a mat, a chair, or standing up and often incorporates use of small accessories such as soft balls and Therabands to help activate deep and superficial muscle groups.

It is suitable for anyone and everyone!
