After years of dedication to finding new ways to bring comfort and support to people affected by cancer, Cancer Support Group 06 (CSG06) is delighted to see its Harp Therapy initiative become a reality at Hôpital Privé Arnault Tzanck Mougins – Sophia Antipolis.
Professional musician and Harp Therapist Megan Metheney now regularly brings the gentle, restorative sound of live harp music to patients undergoing treatment, as well as to hospital staff, offering moments of calm, relaxation and respite during what can be a challenging time.
🩷 The Power of Music in Healing
Music is more than simply a beautiful sound — it has the ability to connect, comfort and create moments of peace. Research into music therapy has shown that calming music can help reduce anxiety, support relaxation, ease the perception of discomfort, and contribute to a greater sense of wellbeing.
The soothing tones of the harp can help create a peaceful environment, helping patients feel supported and cared for, while offering staff a welcome pause within the demands of a busy clinical setting.
Megan’s bedside music brings something deeply human into the hospital environment: a reminder that healing is not only about treatment, but also about comfort, connection and hope.
🎵 A Special Thank You
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Monsieur Eric Leroy, Directeur Général of Hôpital Privé Arnault Tzanck, for embracing this initiative, as well as Camille Dao and Sus Stroyberg for their invaluable support in bringing this project to life.
Megan, proudly wearing the CSG06 white tunic, volunteers her time and talent several days each week, carrying her harp through treatment areas and hospital spaces to offer music to those who wish to listen.
The feedback from patients and medical teams has been incredibly positive, with many sharing how these moments of music bring comfort, reassurance and the feeling that they are cared for — and not alone.
This meaningful initiative has been made possible thanks to the generosity of a former cancer fighter, and CSG06 is proud to have helped facilitate a project that reflects our mission: supporting people through every step of their cancer journey.
💙 Music can heal — and sometimes a few gentle notes can make all the difference. 💙.
