VOLUNTEER ROLES
No training required — get started right away
- Event Management: Help set up special events for clients or volunteers, run our drop-in meetings, organise and staff our presence at forums and fairs.
- Publicity and Outreach: Help us spread the word! Join the team that distributes flyers, posts to social media, takes event photos, writes news articles, or contacts medical professionals and social organisations.
- Fundraising: Organise fundraising events, host coffee mornings, develop fundraising ideas and initiatives — CSG06 is self-financed, and we rely on fundraising to continue our work.
Roles involving direct support — Active Listener Training required
All volunteers working directly with individuals affected by cancer must first complete our Active Listener training (three days — one weekend and one follow-up day — plus ongoing support throughout the year). Before joining the training, you are invited to familiarise yourself with the association by volunteering in another capacity.
- Active Listener: Provide emotional support through phone calls, home visits or hospital visits; no prior experience necessary, just a willingness to listen and help.
- Language Assistance: Interpret at medical appointments, assist with social security queries, translate informational documents.
- Community Support: Help with essential tasks such as collecting prescriptions or groceries, driving to medical appointments, or offering light assistance around the home.
