Therapeutic Music / Harp Therapy (free)

Harpist Megan Metheney offers therapeutic music sessions to individuals. Live acoustic music from the soothing instrument of the harp aims to relax, distract, and comfort patients dealing with pain, facing anxiety, and in need of a healing distraction from symptoms related to cancer and treatment.

Megan has been a professional harpist for 25 years and is an intern for the “Harps for Healing” Clinical Musician Certification Program.

Here are a few words from Megan:

I love how the harp has the ability to touch us profoundly and sooth us in unique ways. This ancient instrument has a history of powerfully touching its listeners, and it continues to be a powerful method to ease stress and reduce pain.

Although I love performing with my harp, the most precious moments I’ve experienced in music were those in which I privately played for people who yearned for music as if it were medicine for their soul. Music may not cure an ailment, but it has the ability to heal us, returning us to a sense of wholeness of mind and spirit.

My therapeutic sessions are adapted to each patient’s needs using improvisation and music suited for relaxation and well-being. The biggest compliment I receive is when the patient falls asleep during a session!
